RSP MMX – Rules

General Rules:

  1. Competing entries must have been made for retro-computers, or be related to the retrocomputing theme (see each category rules)
  2. Competing entries can be made with either native or crossplatform tools. This includes crosscompilers, specialized drawing programs and trackers.
  3. Competing entries must be your own creation and, according to each category rules, proof of authorship must be presented.
  4. Competing entries must not have been presented or made public before the end of the entries reception period.
  5. Competing entries will be distributed freely at the beginning of the votation period.
  6. Entries presented in this competition must not be presented on other competitions or otherwise be made widely and publicly available before the closing of this competition.
  7. Its possible to present more than one entry per contestant, in the same or different categories, see each category rules.
  8. Competing entries can be realized by individuals or groups.
  9. The organizers reserve the right to disqualify any entry as they see fit.
  10. In case a category have not enought entries it will be merged with other category if possible, or the category in point will be closed and it’s entries will not be distributed.
  11. Entries with racist, violent or hardcore sexual content are not allowed.

Competitions:

Games:

  1. Original games for any 8, 16 or 32-bit platform, with the exception of  PC-Windows 95 or above, or MacOS X or above. Remakes/Ports are allowed but not encouraged.
  2. Only standard configurations, use of additional hardware must be optional and not needed for running the game.
  3. Any programming language or game making tool.

One-File Demo:

  1. Single file Demos or intros for any 8, 16 or 32-bit platform, with the exception of PC-Windows 95 or above, or MacOS X or above.
  2. Only standard configurations. For multitasking platforms, use of dinamic libraries is limited to the ones found in the average install of the operative system.
  3. Any programming language, but intromakers, demomakers and the like are not allowed.

Graphics:

  1. Only original works, conversions without post-work and some degree of personal creativity content will not be allowed.
  2. Maximun 256 colours or HAM6 for Amiga, avanced software modes that go beyond these limits are allowed.
  3. Maximun image size: 640×512 pixels.
  4. In case of non-standard file formats, the required viewer software must be included. For 8-bit platforms it’s recomended to present the graphic in executable format.
  5. At least 4 workstages must be presented.

Dates:

Entry reception will be open from April 6, 2010 until August 8, 2010.

Voting will  be from August 9, 2010 until August 15,  2010.

Winners will be announced on August 16, 2010.

Jury and voting:

The jury will be integrated be 3 people: The administrators of Retrocomputacion.com, Pastbytes and The_Woz plus a third judge to be determined.

Jury’s work will be to check the validity of competing entries and the uphold of the competition rules.

The competition winners will be determined by votation at Retrocomputacion.com forum.

Jury will have the final word in case of a tie.

Prizes:

The competition does not gives official prizes beyond the recognition by the retro-community and the personal satisfaction of creating something new for our favourite platform.

However, sponsorship for individual categories are welcomed. To sponsor a category please contact the organizators at the addresses detailed below.

The sponsors will be responsible of the delivery of the corresponding prizes and it will be in no way obligation of responsability of the organizators.
